Creating our New Logo
Logo design can be a lengthy process when you’re actually doing it for yourself! Much like a builders home a designer’s logo and website are never finished, as you always find something else to tinker with. When we launched in 2014, we did so with the following logo;
Of which I was never fully satisfied, I wanted something that would reflect both the “Paper” and the “Voice” elements of the business name and I finally settled on using a mix of the icon for paper and a speech bubble…
There were many more that we tried first;
Now you can see why we settled with the original logo!
In 2016 I finally decided that enough was enough and I needed to rebrand and this time do it right, below shows the first attempts, nothing was working!
However, after speaking to a couple of clients about this, one of them suggested that I introduce something a little more creative or illustrative that would reflect the comp[any more accurately. The next stage of logo design was under way after this new spike of inspiration.
ORIGAMI, what else works better in a logo for a a company with “Paper” in the name, I wanted something bold and I have a certain love for all things simian, so the gorilla was born and after many, many iterations I finally came up with the final logo.
From there, all I needed was to develop the brand, I took the brown from the great ape and I added yellow for his main food source (bananas), after that I brought in pink as a healthy contract to the earthy brown and yellow colouring. I also decided that the gorilla needed some friends and adapted other ideas into the branding identity for the web design packages.
